The traditional local media model is well and truly broken. but The Loco team constantly innovate to

An innovative hyperlocal media title with a 15 year history, celebrating the people and industry of Hackney Wick & Fish Island and the East London neighbourhoods in and around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Wick is a weekly email newsletter, quarterly 32-page print magazine and a rolling event series. It forms the Communication pillar of the emerging Hackney Wick Model, which also includes Connection through monthly, free-to-access local B2B meetings and Community Ownership of buildings and spaces, led by the HW&FI Community Development Trust.

Launching during the Covid lockdowns, supporting the reinvigorated sense of community across the Borough of Camden, Camdenist has partnered with local stakeholders including Google, Camden Market (LabTech) and the Knowledge Quarter on a range of live events, awards and campaigns. In recent years editor Tom Kihl has pivoted from a magazine format to a weekly cultural guide including opinion, curated events and regular guest editors, including in recent months Lord Kinnock, David Aaronovitch, Ruby Wax and more. Not currently in print, Camdenist continues to adapt to the changing face of local media, and launches a video podcast with local young musicians in summer 2026.

Bespoke titles & Consultancy

The Loco has deep experience in creating local media titles for partners and collaborators, and offers a range of specialist services in online newsletters, social content, print magazines and newspapers, delivery logistic and more

The Loco took on full service delivery of the official King’s Cross Estate publication, KX Quarterly, which was distributed with the Sunday Times as well at hundreds of local outlets.

The Loco offered consultancy for this photography-led fashion and lifestyle publication hailing from Brighton. With an active social and YouTube audience and an ethos of empowerment (models get to select their own photos), we helped secure a limited edition t-shirt with Helena Christensen for Choose Love, and re-released issue 6 with new content.
